Montville and Morris County Dispatching - the facts, analysis and open issues

Here is a copy of the report submitted to the Montville Township Committee last Tuesday night.

The report contains an analysis of the potential savings from a move to the Morris County Dispatching/Communications system.  The discussions are ongoing, as there are unresolved operational issues related to the migration, and the potential financial benefit to the Montville taxpayer needs to be verified.

It is important for everyone to understand that there is no real "timetable" for our decision.  Since we can begin the migration at any time in the future, we are not bound by the clock or calendar.  I am interested in developing an informed opinion based on the facts, and cost savings is not the only driver of the decision.  Potential operational issues must be addressed to the satisfaction of the Police, Rescue Squad, and Fire Departments to ensure that the quality of service is not negatively impacted by the move.
